Kinds of Plastics

We have been in this business for quite some time now. We buy it from Europe then we sell to several recycling companies in the Philippines. But importing scrap plastics is not that easy. We have to go through accreditation and notification.

But first, let us translate what plastics really means. According to Wikipedia , Plastic is the general common term for a wide range of synthetic or semisynthetic organic amorphous solid materials suitable for the manufacture of industrial products. Plastics are typically polymers of high molecular weight, and may contain other substances to improve performance and/or reduce costs.

These are the different kinds of plastics:

PP - Polypropylene example : basin, pail, twine
HDPE - High Density Polyethylene example: post consumer plastic bottles, crates
LDPE - Low Density Polyethylene example : pipes, plastic bags
PVC - Poly Vinyl Chloride example: shampoo bottles, pipes
PET - Polyethylene Terephthalate example: mineral water bottles
HIP - Polystyrene ( Hi Impact) example: cups, spoons and fork
PC,ABS - computer and telephone cases

I must admit, I am not so familiar with the technical specs and the recycling process of these materials as I am incharge only of sales. That is when my hubby comes in!

If you have scrap plastics that you want to dispose or know somebody, feel free to let me know. I can suggest a place where to sell them.
