China’s Trip and Tips
Philippine Airlines has a daily flights to Shanghai, China. This time, we have booked our flight and get a China visa from our travel agency King of Travel in Makati.
We arrived in Shanghai via Philippine Airlines safe and sound. But before leaving the plane, we had to go through the Chinese-way of checking the body’s temperature. Sorry but the photo is not good, I was ashamed to take out my camera so I just secretively took the photo from my phone. They looked like Aliens who are lost in space. We couldn’t help but laugh. We have to wait for at least 15 minutes as they have to point their laser gun at our forehead. I mean, is that really necessary?
Pudong International Airport is impressive. Really nice! Amazingly nice!
After immigration, we headed to the Maglev station – a German-developed magnetic-levitation, the world’s fastest, most futuristic passenger line.
Cost for Maglev is RMB 50 for one way, RMB 80 for round trip. We took the round trip. Start from Pudong Internatinal Airport to Longyang Road. From there, you have to take a taxi going to your hotel.
Then we checked in Best Western Pudong Sunshine Hotel. Reasonable hotel but its quite far from the city center and the expo. So the following day, we transferred to Novotel Atlantis. Will post my reviews of both hotels soon.
Honestly, I was not really pleased with my trip as I was not able to buy anything. I wanted to go to their market but to no avail. Its not easy to just go around as the taxi drivers dont speak English. You have to get a card from your hotel and ask them to write in Chinese characters wherever you go. Poor mama mia!
