Today, being overweight is an epidemic millions of Americans struggle with. It’s one of the top reasons why we have all sorts of illnesses and diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer. The foods we’re consuming are toxic and we’re moving significantly less. Our sedentary lifestyles and poor diets are literally killing us. If you want to turn around your life and prevent illness, then you need to start moving more. Here are some tips to help you start losing weight.

Drive Less, Walk More

If you have the option to walk to a place, then do it. You should try walking everywhere feasible, including your mailbox and corner store. If you go to school, opt to walk across campus to classes versus driving. Or if it’s too far, you can ride your bike. This counts as exercise as well. If your car breaks down, don’t fret. Use your two legs until you can get the parts you need from Autozone.

Ride Your Bike

If you don’t own a bike, some communities have rentals you can pick up. You’d be amazed at how far you can go on a bike once you start riding. It’s not as bad as walking, and still allows you to burn a ton of calories. Your bike can be used to buy groceries from the local store or to meet up with friends at the movie theater.

 Buy a Pedometer

 One way to ensure you’re moving enough is to track how many steps you’re taking each day. There are a variety of pedometers on the market you can use. Some have high-tech features that allow you to keep track of your progress. Use the device to find out how many steps you normally take, then add on 1,000 steps. Every other week, you can add another 500 or so steps until you reach about 10,000 steps. The more steps you take, the better, so never stop pushing!

 There are various other ways you can continue losing weight, such as by taking the stairs versus the elevator or escalator and walking around during your lunch break at work. Continue searching for ways to move more and you’ll lose weight in no time!
