Miss Philippines: Ultimate Miss Universe 2015 Winner

I will not end the year without posting about the Miss Universe controversy.

The recent Miss Universe caused a stir globally after the host, Steve Harvey mistakenly announced the real winner of the said 2015 beauty pageant. Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez was crowned as the victor instead of Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

The shining momentum went off of balance after Steve Harvey returned to the stage to make a correction.

“I have to apologize,” host uttered in regret and announced that the real winner is Miss Philippines.

Miss Philippines was stunned with the event and the former Miss Universe 2014, Paulina Vega who is from Colombia removed the glittering crown and placed it on Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

 photo pia-alonzo-wurtzbach-2015-miss-universe-02.jpg

One of the judges, Perez Hilton, a blogger and pageant judge said that he and the other judges voted for Miss Philippines as winner for the Miss Universe contest.

The incident spread as a wildfire and social media was filled with a variety of comments. Steve Harvey was bashed, many rejoiced with the ultimate winner, and many sympathized with Miss Colombia.

Despite the incident, Miss Colombia still stood beautiful and proud.

Steve Harvey attempted to apologize online, but it was a failure. The host misspelled Colombia and Philippines in his tweet.

The Filipino Pride in Sochi Winter Olympics 2014

The Philippines being a tropical country only has wet and dry season to contend with. So when 17-year old Michael Christian Martinez, lone Filipino contingent competed for the Men’s Single in the Sochi, Russia Winter Olympics 2014, lots of speculation came up. With only two ice skating rink in the country, Filipino figure skater had to make all the effort to train, practice and make it to the Winter Olympics.

Michael Martinez’ flawless performances allowed him to move forward and landed third place in the preliminary event. The young athlete made his mark in the ice skating world with his amazing routines to Ernesto Lecuona’s Malaguena and was hailed by commentators for having such talent at a very young age.

His tropical background, youth and his impressive performances made young Michael an interesting subject for international media. And though he did not bag any of the coveted medals, he still made history as the very first figure skater from Southeast Asia who qualified for the Winter Olympics.

All throughout the competition, Michael has kept Filipino pride burning and served as an inspiration for many to pursue their dreams no matter how what happens. According to him, the attention and support he gets especially from his fellow Filipinos is very heart-warming. He’s set to train harder and qualify once again for the next Winter Olympics.

Starting the Search for the Perfect Valentines Gift

Some people say that Valentines is well marketed for men seeking gifts for the special girl in their life. Well many women will disagree with this. Women are more thoughtful and sweet than most men so for this special occasion, they will surely start early in searching for the perfect gift for their men. Even if it’s as rare as some of fishman guitar parts & pickups, they will surely scour online shops as well as local shops to find it. I’m sure women will pull all their resources so that they can produce the best and most appropriate gifts for their Valentine.

After Typhoon Juan, Now Katring

What have you been doing lately? I dont have much post here as I am really tied up with so many open issues at work and incoming shipments from Germany and Korea.

Looking at the effect of Typhoon Juan, it made me teary eyed while watching the news. A lot of our Kababayans are really in great trouble, not as catastrophic though as that of Typhoon Ondoy which really shocked our world! Life is vulnerable indeed.

Now after Typhoon Juan, another typhoon is coming – Typhoon Katring. Whilst writing this post, the rain is pouring heavily that I must end this now to be able to check the warehouses.

Our products are paper and stickers so you can just imagine if these products gets wet. Take a guess! Your guess is as good as mine.

Anyway, take care everyone!

Christopher Street Day in Berlin

I was delighted to be one of the spectators of this event. Its really once in a lifetime for Filipinos like me. I am fascinated how the gays, lesbians, transgenders and bisexual go out in the street to party and proudly show that they do exist in this community. They should be treated equally I think.

According to the internet, the CSD is held in memory of the first big uprising of homosexuals against police assaults in Greenwich Village (New York, USA) on June 27, 1969. The so-called Stonewall Riots took place in the bar Stonewall Inn. The first German CSDs took place in Bremen and Berlin in 1979.

Here are some of the photos taken during the event. Have fun.

And lastly, vivapinay with beautiful ladies.

This is my entry for Mellow Yellow Monday, Blue Monday, Ruby Tuesday and My World Tuesday.
