Trying to keep your kids entertained during the busy summer months can be tricky. No matter how old your kids are, chances are they’re very energetic and like to keep moving. This year, there are several ways you can keep your kids occupied whether you’re at home or on-the-go.
Create a Game
Most kids love to play games. Why not come up with something you can try together? If you’re standing in line at the grocery store, you can play counting games by counting how many people on magazine covers are wearing hats. You could play a shapes game by trying to see how many triangles you can spot. You could even try to find all the letters of the alphabet. The options are endless. You don’t need a lot of supplies, time or space to play a game with your kids. All you need is a willingness to think outside the box.
Did you know you can try restaurant coloring pages for kids anywhere? Whether you’re at a busy restaurant, in the car or even at home, coloring pages offer a lot of fun for kids. More importantly, these pages offer a chance for your kid to get creative. You can let your child draw on your own or you can draw together. You could even draw separate pictures, then compare. Talk with your child about their picture and ask lots of questions. Why did they pick that color? What is their character wearing? Which part of the picture do they like best?
Go on a Walk
Going on walks can seem boring, but there are plenty of ways to spice things up. One of the benefits of going on walks is that you’ll have fun while getting fit. Even if you don’t need to lose weight, walking regularly can help lower your heart rate and your stress levels. Make sure you mix up your walks and try exploring new places in your local area. Sometimes just going down a different street can provide a fun, new experience. You can also try enjoying a scavenger hunt with your kids while you walk around. See how many leaves, flowers or animals you can spot on your walk.
Remember that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have fun with your kids. All you need is a little creativity and a lot of patience.
When you’re hosting a gathering, it’s common to worry about the house being clean, or having the right food. If you’ve got guests of all ages coming, it’s also important to worry about keeping everyone at least somewhat entertained. It’s always great to have a few games around the house that can easily be played by both children and adults. Whether you’re having a formal get-together, or your kids just happen to have some friends over, something that all ages can enjoy is the perfect fit.
One game that fits the bill is called Cornhole. It’s a deceptively simple looking game, usually involving two boards, set at a slight tilt, with one hole in each board. Bean bags are tossed at the boards and points are scored by either sinking the bean bag into one of the holes, or having a bean bag remain on the board without falling off the edge. You can play one vs. one, or in teams. Most anyone can successfully toss the bean bag at the board. Those with a little more skill (or luck) will get the bag in the hole.
In addition to this being a game for all ages, it is a great game to have along at outdoor events. With proper customizations, you can even play this game at night. When playing the game outside, consider getting some lights to go with your board. It makes it that much more fun in the dark. You can purchase the lights from a company like Custom Corn Toss , www.customcorntoss.com. They sell everything Cornhole related, including the Cornhole lights, that you can install easily on your existing game boards. FYI, they sell pre-painted boards, but for those of us who are always looking for another project to try with the kids, they also sell an unpainted set so you can paint / decorate your own. Your kids might enjoy trying out their artistic skills by coming up with their own design.
In theory, you can play this game inside or out, so it’s not a bad thing to have around on a rainy day. Just make sure that your kids are pretty accurate ‘toss-ers’ so that they’re not knocking anything off your walls in the heat of the game!
Let’s all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Holidays only mean one thing – family bonding! After weeks of hustle and bustle, you long for that quiet, relaxing and soothing bonding moments with your loved one. The kids, the spouse and you of course, do deserve a treat. While most families plan their holiday vacations abroad, there are those who could only spare a few days off. But this doesn’t mean that you have to settle for anything less than grand. For a holiday staycation treat for your family, the best place to go is the hottest hotel resort destination near you – Solaire Resorts.
We celebrated my birthday this year at Solaire. It was a wonderful and meaningful stay, we got to bond with my kids for straight 24 hours. Most of the time spent at the swimming pool.
Nothing would ever compare to the grand luxury that Solaire Resorts can offer. The lobby itself smell of a posh 5-Star Hotel to greet you and your family with a wow-factor. The rooms are spacious enough to accommodate an entire gang. You can either sink your weary bodies on the room’s king sized bed with lux covers or those plush arm chairs with ottomans. You’d be surprised at how fast their internet connection is! For fun with the kids, the swimming pool looks quite inviting and you can never resist the urge to take a dip. Solaire also have their fair share of restaurants to satisfy any cravings. You can sample oriental dishes at the Red Lantern or stuff yourselves full at the Fresh Buffet Restaurant. So, give your family a treat!
My mother is arriving tonight from Cagayan de Oro to spend sometime here. Its high time as we have 4 days vacation so we have time to bond with her without leaving her alone with the kiddos. I told her to bring with her the jansport mini backpacks that she earlier bought for Alexa. She took a photo and sent it via MMS. My little mini me is excited for her pasalubong.
She asked me what should she bring for me, I only told her to bring a lot of tableya (cocoa) and some tabon-tabon for suha for our kinilaw. 🙂
It’s my niece’s first Christmas and we’re planning to dress her up with a lovely dress paired with her older sister. She looks so cute and cuddly in pictures and I’m anticipating some photo-ops with the family around her. Mybrother’s camera needs AA batteries and I advised him to get a good battery charger aa for it. It was mine before and I have a battery charger for it, but I think it’s already broken so it’s just about time to buy a new and more durable one for it. Catching memories with the camera is always so rewarding. I keep my children’s photos in a digital file and plan to print them soon for us to organize an album.
With my hectic schedule at work, I am relieved that I finally found a super hero costume for my kiddos. We went to Robinson Imus Cavite to buy the costume initially. Not because we are so fanatic of Robinson Malls but simply its just a one ride away from our residence. To my dismay, they don’t sell costumes from Marvel Heroes and Justice League! I was shocked that they dont offer that? They only have scary halloween costumes.
Next stop was to go to SM Bacoor, so we took another jeepney tagging along my 3 superhero fanatics. It was on 3 day SALE so as expected, too many people. Worst – no more size for my kids. But wait, there is one XL for Ironman. I wanted to buy it but since its not complete so I decided not to buy and planned to SM Mall of Asia instead. But – my kiddos were no longer in the mood so we opted to eat instead and went home.
After officeLast Monday, I went to SM Mall of Asia. I was lucky to find one XL size of Wolverine and Small size for Super Girl. But no XL for Captain America and Iron Man. It was a horrible! I asked the Sales Man to call Bacoor Branch to check if the Iron Man was still available and he did but was sold out! Horrible! So I asked my colleague to really go to SM Bacoor and luckily, she found the last piece from Toy Kingdom. Hola! And after her confirmation, was finally able to breath!
At this time of the month, its really difficult to find your preferred costume for Halloween. My kids are now ready for their school party and for Trick or Treat in the village.
My cousin wanted to have a musically filled birthday party when she turned 18. Unlike other girls who want a debut party, this cousin of mine wanted her friends to be relaxed and just enjoy the celebration. They chose a local band to play their favorite rock and accoustic songs. It’s good to see her parents joining in the celebration while controlling the crowd and the drinking. As the night wore on, the music became louder but we are all impressed with the sounds of the drums, it must be the dw pillows that helped minimize unnecessary rings when the drummer hits the kick drum.
These days, insurance companies have become really strict about their policies. Sometimes, you may think that their insurance offers are more of a hassle to take and may make you a little less interested to check and purchase. Fortunately, there are now life insurance quotes no exam requirement that caters to people who are too busy with work to undergo medical exam just to get an insurance policy. Term life insurance is one those policies available for people who want an affordable life insurance without too much hassle and issues. The prices of these insurance are fixed and you have to complete your payments for a certain number of years.
Weekends are always a fun and exciting time for the family especially for the kids. Saturdays are usually spent at home, cleaning up and organizing stuff we usually miss out during the busy week. Though sometimes kids get bored with these so occasional trips to theme parks, museums or beaches for a short dip is a must. Sundays are always a favorite day for the kids. After the Sunday service, where the family occupies a complete row of church chairs, they get to spend some time with their closest cousins for an afternoon of barbeque and grills. This is one of the best activities for the family to stay connected and bond especially those little kids
